Stick it to me! ...

My most favoured hobby is Nordic Walking.  Sometimes I go with various groups, sometimes I go alone with my dog.  It's the most awesome sport, cardio wise its like running but on your joints it just feels like you're flying.  Ideal for anyone with injuries who feel they cannot exercise.  Anyone can do it but it's best to take lessons first so you get the technique right and learn how to vary the methods.  There are also books on it that are great maintenance after having lessons.  Nordic walking makes me feel so alive!  So free, so energised!!!!  It feels fantastic!   I'm looking forward to going on my first Nordic walking holiday later this year.  These two sticks are my best friends!!!! ;-)
Nordic walking poles vary in price and quality, mine are by Leki and are adjustable ones, I also opted for quick release straps.   Footwear wise you need trail shoes or running shoes NOT walking shoes and definitely not walking boots.    This pic was taking half way round my favourite route which is about 4.5miles.  Its all off road and lovely views and I'm on it within 2minutes from my front door.    You can find where nearest instructor is in your area on the website... http://nordicwalking.co.uk
