So I've joined it all together, used a zigzag stitch to quilt inside all the big squares and added little rosettes with wooden buttons on the crosses in the middle of the quilt. Also now I've just finished the overall binding (the fine multi coloured edging) and only have some french knots to do inside the smaller squares before pressing the overall thing. I love this quilt so much. endless love and hours and mistakes/FEATURES! have gone into this ditsy floral mixture of softness that will over time give comfort and warmth to melancholy and no doubt be a talking point as people enter my otherwise taupe/beige/cream room. I'm eternally grateful to the lovely kind lady called Sheryl who gave me time and inspiration and patience (gallore!) to teach me how to put together such a piece.
I will make many more, watch this space.... my next one will be BIGGER, to fill and drape over our bed, lighter weight, thinner and pale yellows and whites. I'm intending on embracing embroidery more on this next one, I love the mimosa flower so am on a search now to find something I can make an embroidery template from or something. ... ?
